MeshSync - Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 04.04.2025
Last Updated: 04.04.2025
("MeshSync", "we", "us", or "our") operates the MeshSync software-as-a-service platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the service.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Service includes:
- Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address, and potentially company name or payment information (processed by a third-party provider) that you voluntarily give to us when you register for the Service or choose to participate in various activities related to the Service, such as joining a waitlist or contacting support.
- Account Credentials/Tokens: Information required to connect to third-party services at your direction, such as API keys, OAuth tokens, or access credentials for marketplaces (e.g., Etsy, eBay) and storage providers (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, WebDAV servers). We store these securely and use them solely to provide the Service features you enable.
- 3D Model Metadata: Information related to the 3D models you manage through the Service. This includes filenames, folder structures (as accessed via connected storage), technical specifications, tags, categories, descriptions you provide, and content generated by our AI features based on your input or model analysis. Crucially, we DO NOT collect or store the large, original 3D model files (e.g., STL, 3MF) themselves when you connect third-party cloud or NAS storage. We only access them as needed (with your permission via the connected service) to extract metadata or generate previews. If you use the "Direct Upload" feature, files may be temporarily stored for processing.
- Previews and Thumbnails: We may generate and store small image previews or thumbnails derived from your 3D models to display within the Service interface.
- Derivative Data (Usage Data): Information our servers automatically collect when you access the Service, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the Service. We may also collect information about the features you use and actions you take within the Service.
- Financial Data: We may collect data related to your payment method (e.g., valid credit card number, card brand, expiration date) when you subscribe to paid plans. We use a third-party payment processor ([Name of Payment Processor, e.g., Stripe, Paddle]), and we do not store your full payment card details. All payment data is stored by our payment processor.
- Communications: If you contact us directly (e.g., via email support, feedback forms), we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
2. How We Collect Information
We collect information:
- Directly from you: When you register, subscribe, fill out forms, connect third-party accounts, or communicate with us.
- Automatically: Through server logs, cookies, and similar tracking technologies when you interact with the Service (Usage Data).
- From Third Parties: When you explicitly authorize us to connect to your marketplace or storage provider accounts, we receive information (like access tokens and file metadata) from those services according to their API provisions and your permissions.
3. How We Use Your Information
Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Service to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Provide the core Service functionality, including connecting to your storage, accessing metadata, generating listing content (including via AI), and publishing/syncing listings to marketplaces at your direction.
- Process payments and subscriptions.
- Communicate with you regarding your account or the Service, including updates, security alerts, and support messages.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve the Service and user experience.
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
- Train and improve our AI models (striving to use anonymized or aggregated data where feasible).
- Prevent fraudulent transactions, monitor against theft, and protect against criminal activity.
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems.
4. How We Share Your Information
We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:
- With Third-Party Services (At Your Direction): When you connect your marketplace or storage accounts, we share necessary information (e.g., listing data, metadata, commands) with those services via their APIs to perform the actions you request (e.g., publishing a listing on Etsy, reading metadata from Google Drive). This sharing is based on your explicit authorization.
- With Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf, requiring access to such information to do that work (e.g., hosting providers, database providers, analytics providers, payment processors, email delivery services, AI service providers). These providers are obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
- By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
- Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
- Aggregated/Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you for research, analysis, or other purposes.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Storage Location: Your information (primarily Metadata, account details, usage data) is stored on secure servers located in [Specify Region(s), e.g., the European Union or the United States]. Original large 3D model files remain on your connected third-party storage unless directly uploaded.
- Security Measures: We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. These include encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
6. Data Retention
We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, complying with our legal obligations (e.g., financial record-keeping), resolving disputes, and enforcing our policies. Metadata associated with your account will be retained while your account is active and may be deleted upon account closure or after a period of inactivity, subject to our data retention policies. Usage data is typically kept for a shorter period, except when used for security purposes or to improve Service functionality, or if legally obligated to retain it longer.
7. Your Data Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., if you are in the European Economic Area), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Restrict Processing: Request restriction of how we process your personal data.
- Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: Object to our processing of your personal data.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: If processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise these rights, please contact us using the contact information below. You can usually manage your connected accounts and some profile information directly within the Service settings. Deleting your MeshSync account will result in the deletion of your personal information and associated metadata stored by MeshSync, subject to legal retention requirements.
8. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Service contains links to and integrates with third-party websites and services (marketplaces, storage providers) that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link or connect a third-party service, you will be directed to that third party's site or interact with their service. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site and service you visit or connect. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside France and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to France or the EU and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
